Heartland National Life Launches Secure Select Hospital Indemnity

INDEPENDENCE, MO, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Heartland National Life Insurance Company today announced the launch of Secure Select Hospital Indemnity, its newest supplemental health insurance product. Drawing on the company’s experience in supplemental health, Secure Select was designed to provide greater flexibility, broader protection and coverage that is easier to understand and use.


Consumers continue to feel the burden of healthcare cost sharing. Even with coverage through major medical insurance or Medicare Advantage, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance and other expenses can create meaningful financial exposure when an unexpected medical event occurs.

In developing Secure Select, Heartland National drew heavily on feedback from insurance professionals working directly with consumers across the country. “We took what we’ve learned over the years, listened to what agents and consumers are experiencing, and built Secure Select to help address those gaps in coverage.” said Brandon Reid, Chief Marketing Officer of Heartland National.

“A consumer’s financial exposure doesn’t necessarily begin when they are admitted to the hospital or end when they are discharged. We wanted to provide protection around that broader healthcare experience,” said Reid. While hospital indemnity is at its foundation, Secure Select goes well beyond hospital confinement. The plan combines customizable hospital benefits with built-in coverage for emergency room, urgent care, observation, recovery room and mental health hospitalization, along with optional benefits for outpatient care, skilled nursing, diagnostic testing, therapy, cancer, prescription drugs, home health care, and dental, vision and hearing.

“One of the principles we kept coming back to was simple; coverage should work the way people expect it to work when they need it most,” Micheletti said. “We challenged ourselves to reduce unnecessary fine print and build benefits that are straightforward, meaningful and provide real value at claim time.”

Secure Select features issue-age rates, no policy fee, guaranteed issue for ages 64–74 and hospital benefits from $100 to $1,000 per day, with no minimum number of hours required for the daily base plan benefit. Base benefits restore after 30 days—or immediately for a new accident or sickness.
Secure Select will be available in approved states beginning October 5, 2026, with additional states added as regulatory approvals are received.
